Last night (November 11), Carly Rae Jepsen‘s Gimmie Love Tour stopped at New York City’s Irving Plaza. Contrast Magazine was present at the concert, jamming out to some of the pop sensation’s greatest hits. Alternative artist K.Flay opened the show, performing a number of songs. Carly Rae Jepson opened the show with “Run Away With Me,” her second single off of E•MO•TION. British artist Devonté Hynes joined Jepsen on stage to perform “All That.” Half of the crowd went into a frenzy when the musician came out, whilst the other half collectively asked “Who?” However, the musician is one of songwriter-producers behind the impressive track. Watch both artists take on “All That” from a fan-captured video below.
The standout moment of the night was when the singer-songwriter was finishing up her song “When I Needed You,” and she suddenly stopped but the crowd kept singing out the lyrics. Jepsen appeared to be in a state of shock and on the verge of tears as she called it one of the best moments off the tour so far. Another standout moment was her encore performance, where she came out to perform “Curiosity,” “Call Me Maybe,” and “I Really Like You.” The last two songs, arguably two of her most popular tracks, caused the crowd to go wild. Her smash song “Call Me Maybe” went viral in 2012 after Big Time Rush’s Carlos Pena posted a video of him and his celebrity friends singing along to the track. Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Ashley Tisdale, and others made appearances in the video.
